SUMMER SCRIMMAGES/CAMPS

United States Air Force Academy - High School Football Camp

Saturday June 18, 2011

On behalf of the Air Force Academy football coaching staff, the Colorado collegiate football officials have been asked to provide officials for a high school 7 on 7 passing camp to be held on Saturday June 18.  The camp is located at the Air Force athletic facilities, beginning about 7:30 AM and will wrap up at approximately 2:00 PM.

Due to its growth, the camp may need as many as 60 officials this year.  Games will be worked by two wing officials and a back judge (i.e. 5 man mechanics without an R or U).  A few of the key improvements for this year:

  1. The stipend of $50 per official will be paid on the day of the event.
  2. The AFA staff has agreed to fund enough officials so everyone gets a game off.
  3. Staff clinicians will stay for a dedicated post event feedback, Q and A, and discussion session; group and individual.

As in the past, fellow collegiate officials are providing input and evaluation for the on field officials.  College officials from the Mountain West, Big 12, PAC 12, WAC, Big Sky, Southland, and Rocky Mountain Athletic conferences will be in attendance. We also expect good discussion over the lunch break and between games. We hope it’s an opportunity to get some good snaps and come away with something that will help make you a better official.   And overall, it is a good time for officials across the state and different levels to share and support our interest in football officiating.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the information below and e-mail Jim Murphy:  jfmurphy@q.com

ALL CITY 7 on 7

I have a great opportunity for a crew/crews to earn money and for officials in their 2nd & 3rd year to get some great work utilizing 3-man mechanics.  Thirty-two Colorado HS football teams will be competing in 7 x 7 passing scrimmages at All-City Stadium on Monday and Tuesday, June 20th & 21st, from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 1:45 p.m.  Sixteen teams will compete each day with four games going simultaneously utilizing 3 officials in each game.  The championship will be decided on Sunday, June 26th, at the Denver Broncos training facility in Centennial with details yet to be determined.

o  For Monday, June 20, I’ll need 12 officials from 9:30am – 1:45am. All City Stadium. Four fields, four games simultaneously. Each official will be paid $85 for the day.

o  For Tuesday, June 21, I’ll need 12 officials from 9:30am – 1:45am. All City Stadium. Four fields, four games simultaneously. Each official will be paid $85 for the day.

o  For Sunday, June 26, the layout still needs to be determined by the tournament organizer, and I will advise participants on how many officials will be needed, e.g., 3 or 6.
